The Alveolars & More Oral Motor Kit whistles stimulate consonants /t, d, f, v, r/, the lower lip, tongue retraction and tongue tip elevation.

The slide whistle and ocarina require controlled air to activate a sound or action. The ocarina plays like a flute with simple fingering. The kazoo requires a humming (voiced/vocal fold movement) sound to activate. The slide whistle and large flute require less airflow to activate and stimulate the lower lip.

Blowing helps develop tongue, cheek, jaw and lip musculature and respiratory control for speech and feeding skills. The shape and size of the mouth piece allows children to work on tongue placement for specific sounds for speech development. Whistles are a pleasurable and reinforcing way to encourage blowing. Have your child practice with the whistle(s) once per day and work up to blowing each whistle 15-25 times in rapid repetition. The rapid succession will help with motor planning.
