The Bilabial Sounds Oral Motor Kit encourages bilabials (consonants /p, b, m/) and open-mouth vowel sounds. The train, bird, and flute whistle are the easiest to blow, requiring just a little air to activate a sound. Just add a little water to the bird whistle before blowing. The siren and harmonica encourage lip rounding.

Blowing helps develop tongue, cheek, jaw and lip musculature and respiratory control for speech and feeding skills. The shape and size of the mouth piece allows children to work on tongue placement for specific sounds for speech development. Whistles are a pleasurable and reinforcing way to encourage blowing. Have your child practice with the whistle(s) once per day and work up to blowing each whistle 15-25 times in rapid repetition. The rapid succession will help with motor planning.
