The Nasal Sounds Whistle Kit encourages consonants / n, m, ng / and helps mouth breathers learn to breathe through their noses.

This plastic round kazoo is easy for little hands to hold. The round kazoo requires a humming (voiced/vocal fold movement) sound to activate. Because it is flat, it requires less rounding of the lips over the mouthpiece. Hum into the kazoo and feel the vibration in the lips and cheeks.

The Nose Whistle is a more advanced whistle that is played by blowing air through the nose. Changing the shape of your mouth alters the sound. The big part goes over your mouth, and the small part goes against your nose. A firm seal around the nose and mouth is needed to activate the whistle. The nose whistle is a helpful tool for mouth breathers because it requires airflow through the nose instead of the mouth.

Blowing helps develop tongue, cheek, jaw and lip musculature and respiratory control for speech and feeding skills. The shape and size of the mouth piece allows children to work on tongue placement for specific sounds for speech development. Whistles are a pleasurable and reinforcing way to encourage blowing. Have your child practice with the whistle(s) once per day and work up to blowing each whistle 15-25 times in rapid repetition. The rapid succession will help with motor planning.
